The scheme "Free Education for Sports Medal Winners / Participants of National/ International Events" by the University Grants Commission, Ministry of Education, provides financial assistance to medal-winning sportspersons pursuing higher education. It encourages excellence in both sports and academics by covering tuition fees, hostel expenses, stipends, and allowances.
Medal winners of National Games and participants in recognized international sporting events (recognized by World University Service, International Olympic Committee, and Olympic Council of Asia) who have taken admission in:
Universities/Colleges under UGC Act 1956 (Sections 2(f) and 12(b))
Deemed Universities under UGC Act Section 3 eligible for UGC grants Universities/Institutions/Colleges funded by Central/State Govt.
Institutes of National Importance
(ii) Continuation of scholarship depends on subsequent sports performance and academic progress.
Tuition Fee & Other Funds: Actual (Bachelor’s, PG, Diploma, Professional Courses).
M.Phil: ₹7500/- per month + Actual.
Ph.D.: As per JRF scale (UGC).
MBA/Professional Courses: ₹7500/- per month + Actual.
Hostel Facilities: Actual (Boarding & Lodging).
Allowance for Special Courses Abroad: As per Government norms.
Kit Allowance: Ranges from ₹6000 to ₹15000 per annum (depending on level of participation/medal).

Attach certificate of participation/medal-winning (attested by Registrar/Principal).
Verify form and documents.
Submit to the designated authority (University/College).
Universities/Colleges must then forward student applications and required reports to UGC.
