JN Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship 2025-26
About the Program

Established in 1892 by Jamsetji Nusserwanjee Tata, the promoter of the Tata Group, the JN Tata Endowment awards merit-based loan scholarships to students across India for higher studies overseas. Every year, 90 to 100 scholars are selected across disciplines, including sciences (applied, pure, and social), management, law, commerce, and fine arts.

Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be an Indian citizen, not older than 45 years as of June 30, 2025.
  • Must be a graduate of a recognized Indian university with at least 60% marks in undergraduate or postgraduate studies.
  • Must be admitted to a Graduate Program (postgraduate in Indian terminology).
  • Candidates who were not selected previously or could not avail of the loan scholarship can apply afresh.
  • Those already pursuing postgraduate studies overseas may apply if at least one full academic year (12 months) remains to be completed.
  • Final-year degree students and those awaiting results are eligible to apply.
  • Admission/offer letters are not mandatory at the time of application but must be updated once secured.
  • Previous JN Tata scholars who have fully repaid their loan can reapply.

Ineligibility

The scholarship does not apply to candidates:

  • Pursuing undergraduate studies overseas.
  • Attending seminars, conferences, training, workshops, or paper presentations.
  • Enrolling in distance learning or online postgraduate degrees/diplomas/certificates.
  • Planning to pursue postgraduate or undergraduate studies in India.
  • Seeking admission in diploma courses requiring only higher secondary qualification.
How can you apply?

Application Process & Required Documents

Phase 1 – Application Submission (Deadline: March 7, 2025)

Required Documents:

  • Candidate’s Photo (500×500 pixels, JPEG format)
  • Aadhaar Card
  • Passport (First & Last Page)
  • Marksheet/Transcript(s) for each academic qualification
  • Statement of Purpose (SoP)
  • Work Experience Certificate (if applicable)
  • Appointment Letter (for employed candidates)
  • Latest Filed ITR/3 Months’ Pay Slips (for working professionals)

Phase 2 – Aptitude Test

  • No additional documents required.

Phase 3 – Interview with Subject Expert

Required Documents:

  • Letter of Admission to the university
  • Letter of Recommendation (LOR) addressed to The Trustees of the JN Tata Endowment from a professor or employer
  • Final Year Mark Sheets/Degree Certificate
  • GRE/GMAT/TOEFL/IELTS/PTE Scorecards
  • Certificates of Scholarships/Ranking/Prizes (if any)
  • Certificates of Extra-Curricular Activities
  • Research/Project Work Documentation
  • Updated Resume
  • Cost of Education details
  • Source of Funds

Phase 4 – Final Selection

Required Documents:

  • Candidate’s PAN Card
  • Candidate’s Cancelled Cheque/Latest Bank Statement
  • Guarantor’s PAN Card & Aadhaar Card
  • Guarantor’s Passport-size Photo (500×500 pixels, JPEG format)
  • Guarantor’s Income Proof/Latest Filed ITR

Note:

  • All documents must be uploaded in grayscale PDF format with appropriately named files for identification.
  • If any information is found to be incomplete or false, the application will be rejected without any queries entertained.
  • The decision of the management at each stage of the selection process will be final.
