The Merit Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC Students is an initiative by the Department for the Welfare of SC/ST/OBC, Government of NCT of Delhi, aimed at supporting students from these communities in pursuing higher education in professional, technical, and general fields. The scholarship provides financial assistance to eligible students enrolled in colleges, institutions, and universities offering degree, diploma, and certificate courses.
The scholarship is categorized based on the level of study, with different amounts awarded to hostellers and day scholars. It covers a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, medicine, agriculture, law, arts, commerce, fine arts, and other professional and technical fields. The goal of this scholarship is to promote higher education among underprivileged students and enable them to achieve academic excellence without financial constraints.
How to Apply for the Merit Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC Students
Check Eligibility – Ensure that you belong to the SC/ST/OBC category and are enrolled in a professional, technical, or higher education course in a recognized institution.
Visit the Official Portal – Go to the Department for the Welfare of SC/ST/OBC, Government of NCT of Delhi official website.
Register/Login – If you are a new user, create an account. Existing users can log in using their credentials.
Fill Out the Application Form – Complete the scholarship application form with accurate personal, academic, and bank details.
Upload Required Documents – Attach scanned copies of necessary documents such as:
Review and Submit – Double-check all details and submit the application before the deadline.
Track Application Status – Log in to the portal periodically to check the status of your application.
Receive Scholarship Amount – Once approved, the scholarship amount will be credited directly to the applicant’s bank account.
Scholarship Amount Based on Course of Study Group A – Degree Courses in Professional and Technical Fields
This includes degree courses in Medical, Engineering, B.Sc. (Agriculture), Veterinary Science, Forensic Science, Higher Technical and Professional Studies, and Indian Medicine (B.A.M.S., Ayurvedic, Unani, Tibbia, Homeopathy).
For postgraduate courses in these fields and other technical/professional courses:
Group B – Diploma Level Courses in Professional and Technical Fields
This includes diploma courses in Indian Medicine (B.A.M.S., Ayurvedic, Unani, Tibbia, Homeopathy), Engineering Technology, Architecture, Printing Technology, Draftsmanship, Hotel Management, Catering, Applied Nutrition, Commercial Pilot Licensing, Wireless & TV Operations, Sound Recording & Engineering, Photography, Film Direction, Acting, Screenplay Writing, and postgraduate courses in science subjects.
Group C – Certificate Courses in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, and Medicine This includes certificate and diploma courses in Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Fisheries, Dairy, Public Health, Sanitary Inspection, Rural Services, Library Science, Fire Service Training (Sub-Officer Course at National Fire Service College, Nagpur), and Postgraduate Diploma/Degree courses in Teacher Training, Library Science, Physical Education, Music, Fine Arts, Law, Craft Instruction, Passenger Transport Management, and Pharmacy.
Group D – General Courses in Arts, Commerce, and Other Subjects For undergraduate studies in Arts, Commerce, and other general subjects:
