About the Program

About the Program The NGSF Internship Program 2025 is an initiative by the Next Gen Scientists Foundation (NGSF), a registered NGO under the Trust Act of India, 1882. This program offers students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies an opportunity to gain hands-on research experience in life sciences. Selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of up to ₹6,000 along with additional benefits.

Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria

Application Deadline: March 15, 2025

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in an Indian institution and be in one of the following academic stages:

    • Second year of a three-year undergraduate program
    • Second or third year of a four-year undergraduate program
    • First year of a two-year master's program
    • Second, third, or fourth year of a five-year integrated program
  • Have secured an internship in a lab with a Principal Investigator (PI) who meets the following requirements:

    • Has at least three years of faculty experience
    • Has three or more publications as the corresponding author in peer-reviewed journals
    • Is affiliated with an Indian institute outside the applicant’s own institution
  • Be willing to undertake a life sciences-related internship for:

    • Two months (minimum 56 days) OR
    • Three months (minimum 84 days)

Internship Benefits

Selected interns will receive:

  • ₹6,000 per month for on-site internships
  • ₹3,000 per month for remote internships
  • Travel reimbursement (for on-site interns) covering up to a round-trip third-class AC (III AC) train ticket

To receive the stipend, interns must:

  • First Month: Submit the Internship Joining Letter (signed by the hosting PI) to NGSF.

  • Second Month: Submit an article for the NGS blog following the specified guidelines and fill out the Internship Continuation Letter.

  • Final Stipend & Certificate:

    • Submit a work progress report during the last week of the internship.
    • Complete the feedback form.
    • Present the research findings in the NGS Interns Webinar to receive the Internship Completion Certificate and travel reimbursements.

Note:

Students receiving financial assistance from other sources (such as KVPY, INSA, JNCASR, IIT, IISER) are eligible to apply but cannot receive additional funding from the NGSF program

Note: The research proposal must follow the guidelines available in the ‘Application Guidelines’ section of the official website.

Follow these steps to apply for the NGSF Internship Program 2025 successfully:

Step 1: Check Eligibility Ensure that you meet all eligibility criteria, including academic requirements, faculty supervisor qualifications, and duration of the internship.

Step 2: Secure an Internship Offer

  • Identify a Principal Investigator (PI) at an Indian institute (outside your own institution) who is willing to host your research internship.
  • Confirm that the PI has at least three years of faculty experience and three or more peer-reviewed publications as the corresponding author.
  • Obtain an Acceptance Letter from the PI, confirming your selection for the internship.

Step 3: Prepare Required Documents Gather the following documents in PDF format:

  • Scanned university transcripts
  • Acceptance Letter (signed by the hosting PI)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) (maximum 2 pages)
  • Research Proposal (as per the specified guidelines on the official website)
  • Contact details of at least one referee (up to two references allowed)

Step 4: Complete the Application Form

  • Fill out the official application form available on the Next Gen Scientists Foundation (NGSF) website.
  • Upload all required documents as per the specified format.

Step 5: Submit Your Application

  • Submit the completed application before the deadline (March 15, 2025).
  • Ensure all documents are correctly uploaded and formatted according to the Application Guidelines on the official website. Step 6: Await Selection Results
  • Shortlisted candidates will be notified via email.
  • If selected, follow the internship requirements to receive the stipend and successfully complete the program.

Step 7: Begin Your Internship

  • Start your internship as per the agreed timeline.
  • Fulfill all necessary requirements, including submission of progress reports, blog articles, and participation in the NGS Interns Webinar for final certification.
