The SERB – POWER Grant Research Scheme aims to encourage and empower emerging and eminent women researchers in India. It provides individual-centric, competitive research funding to undertake R&D activities in frontier areas of science and engineering. The grant is categorized into two levels based on the type of institution the applicant is affiliated with.
Indian citizenship required.
Regular position in a recognized academic/research institution in India.
Level I: Applicants from premier institutions (IITs, IISERs, NITs, etc.).
Level II: Applicants from State or Private Institutions.
Female Co-PI from the same institute mandatory.
Male Co-PIs and PhD guides as Co-PI not allowed.
Those who have already availed POWER Grant, or completed 2 CRGs, or are JC Bose Fellows, cannot apply.
Max two Co-PIs allowed.
Level I: Up to ₹60 lakhs for 3 years.
Level II: Up to ₹30 lakhs for 3 years.
Support includes funding for equipment, manpower, consumables, travel, contingency, and institutional overheads.
Applications must be submitted via the SERB-Core Research Grant (CRG) platform.
Proposals will be accepted only in direct mode.
Selection is based on recommendations of the Program Advisory Committee (PAC).
