About the Program

The Sanskriti - Geddes Scholarship 2025, offered by the Sanskriti Foundation, aims to promote the study of Patrick Geddes' town planning principles among young Indian planners and architects. The scholarship provides financial support of ₹45,000 over six months, disbursed in two installments.

The Sanskriti - Geddes Scholarship 2025 is an initiative by the Sanskriti Foundation to promote the study of Patrick Geddes' town planning principles among young Indian planners and architects. The scholarship aims to create awareness of Geddes' concept of "place, work, and folk."

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Nationality: Indian citizens.
  • Age: Between 20 to 30 years.
  • Academic/Professional Status: Applicants must be:
  • Students of planning and architecture at the graduate, postgraduate, or research level in a recognized Indian university or institution.
  • Young practicing professionals in the field of architecture.
  • Application Type: Applications can be submitted individually or as a collaborative group effort.

Application Process:

Prepare the Following Documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): A two-page CV including full postal address, telephone number, and email ID.

  • Project Proposal: A well-researched proposal of up to 1,500 words that advances Geddes' ideas. The proposal should include:

  • Plan of action.

  • Details of field visits.

  • Availability of archival material.

  • Bibliography: A list of reports, articles, and websites referenced in the proposal.

  • References: Names and contact details of two referees.

  • Submission: Applications can be sent via email or by post to the Sanskriti Foundation at: Sanskriti Foundation C-11, Qutab Institutional Area New Delhi-110 016

  • Ensure the envelope or email subject is titled "Sanskriti – Geddes Scholarship."

Selection Process:

  • Evaluation: Applications will be assessed based on the quality and relevance of the project proposal.
  • Interim Report: Selected candidates are required to submit an interim report three months after the commencement of the scholarship.
  • Final Report: Upon completion, the final project report will be reviewed by a committee.
  • Presentation: Candidates may be invited to present their findings in a seminar held in Delhi.

Scholarship Award:

  • Amount: INR 45,000.
  • Disbursement: The scholarship amount will be given in two phases:
  • The first installment at the commencement of the scholarship.
  • The second installment after the submission of the complete project report.
