About the Program

The Tata Innovation Fellowship 2024-25, initiated by the Department of Biotechnology under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, aims to honor and support scientists with remarkable contributions in Biological Sciences and Biotechnology. This fellowship seeks to promote innovative research that provides practical solutions in domains such as agriculture, healthcare, environmental sciences, and other life sciences-related fields.

Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of INR 25,000 along with an annual research contingency grant of INR 10,00,000. These benefits are provided in addition to their regular salary from their respective institutions.

Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates must fulfill the following criteria to be eligible for the fellowship:

  • Must be an Indian citizen under the age of 55.
  • Should possess a Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences, Agriculture, or Veterinary Science, or a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences, Engineering, or Biotechnology.
  • Must have resided in India for a minimum of five years before applying.
  • Should have at least ten years of professional experience in the relevant field.
  • Must be currently holding a position in an academic or research institution, university, or organization and actively engaged in research activities.

Note: This fellowship cannot be availed concurrently with any other fellowship. Candidates receiving benefits from multiple fellowships must choose one

Fellowship Benefits

The fellowship provides the following financial support to the selected scientists:

  • A monthly stipend of INR 25,000 in addition to their existing salary from the institution.
  • An annual contingency grant of INR 10,00,000 to cover research-related expenses, including consumables, equipment, manpower, travel, etc.

Note: Fellows whose salary is covered by an international organization will only be eligible for the contingency grant

Required Documents

  • Proof of birth, such as a Birth Certificate, Passport, Aadhaar Card, or Voter ID.
  • Academic records, including mark sheets and certificates of Ph.D. and Master's degrees.
  • A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) detailing educational background, research experience, publications, and achievements.
  • Proof of Indian nationality, such as a Passport copy, Aadhaar Card copy, or other government-issued identification.
  • A complete list of peer-reviewed publications with full references.
  • A well-structured and original research proposal outlining the project planned under this fellowship.
