EWSQS
What is the EWS Quota?
The Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota is a reservation provided by the government to students from the unreserved category who belong to economically weaker sections. This quota enables eligible students to receive free education from Classes 1 to 8 at their neighborhood schools, which may include government schools, government-aided schools, and private unaided institutions, under the Right to Education Act, 2009.
The government mandates that these schools offer free and mandatory elementary education up to Class 8. The state government is responsible for reimbursing these schools based on the per-child expenditure after students are admitted under the EWS quota.
