About the Program

About the Program The Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme for Minorities, West Bengal 2024-25 is an initiative by the West Bengal Minorities Development & Finance Corporation under the Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department, Government of West Bengal. This program is designed to financially assist minority students from Class 11 to postgraduate level who are studying in West Bengal. The scholarship provides up to ₹60,000 per year to selected candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be an Indian national
  • Be a resident (domicile) of West Bengal
  • Be enrolled in Class 11 or higher at an institution in West Bengal
  • Belong to one of the minority communities in West Bengal (Buddhist, Christian, Jain, Muslim, Parsee, or Sikh)

For Undergraduate Level Scholarship Candidates must have:

  1. Secured at least 60% marks in the last qualifying exam from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, West Bengal Council for Higher Secondary Education, or Madrasa Education (for Higher Secondary level)
  2. OR, have secured 60% marks in diploma courses from AICTE-approved institutes affiliated to WBSCT&VE&SD (in the 2nd year of Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy courses via lateral entry) or affiliated with the State Medical Faculty (for the 2nd year Pharmacy course via lateral entry)

For Postgraduate Level Scholarship Candidates must have:

  1. Secured at least 53% marks in aggregate in graduation (honours subject) from any state university (for general education)
  2. OR, secured 55% marks in graduate courses from any state university or AICTE-approved Institute in West Bengal (Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy)
  3. The annual family income must not exceed ₹2,50,000
