What is the Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship?
The Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship is a financial aid programme run by Tata Capital Limited for students from economically weaker families who are doing well in their studies. According to Tata Capital's education page, the programme started in 2013 and pays special attention to women, SC, ST and students with disabilities. The company reports that more than 25,000 scholarships had been awarded by March 2025.
This is a private, company-funded scholarship, not a government scheme. So it does not run on the National Scholarship Portal, and the rules, dates and forms are different. It looks at both marks and family income, which is the idea behind merit-cum-means awards. If that term is new to you, our explainer on merit-based and need-based scholarships makes the difference clear.
Important dates for Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship 2026-27
| Stage | Date |
|---|---|
| Applications opened | September 2026 (Tata Capital opens the programme from September each year) |
| Last date, Class 11 and 12 form | 26 October 2026 |
| Last date, undergraduate, diploma and ITI form | 26 October 2026 |
| Document check, interview and results | Not officially confirmed |
You may see 30 September 2026 or 15 November 2026 on some websites. Those dates do not match the programme notification and look like older editions or errors. Treat 26 October 2026 as the deadline and confirm it on the application form before you submit.
Some education portals expect a document check and a telephone interview before results, but no date for either has been confirmed. Do not plan around a result date until the programme announces one.
Who can apply for the Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship?
You can apply if you are an Indian student currently studying in Class 11, Class 12, an undergraduate degree, a diploma or an ITI course, you scored at least 60% in your last exam, and your family earns up to ₹4 lakh a year.
| Condition | What the programme asks for |
|---|---|
| Nationality | Indian citizen |
| Class 11 and 12 | Currently enrolled in Class 11 or 12 at a recognised institution, with at least 60% marks in the preceding class |
| Undergraduate, diploma or ITI | Currently enrolled in a degree such as BCom, BSc or BA, or in a diploma or ITI course, with at least 60% in the preceding class, semester or year |
| Family income | Not more than ₹4 lakh a year from all sources |
| Not eligible | Children of employees of Tata Capital and of the application platform that runs the programme |
Be careful with old information. Some pages still show a ₹2.5 lakh income limit, which belonged to an earlier cycle. If your family income is between ₹2.5 lakh and ₹4 lakh, do not rule yourself out based on one of those pages.
If you are in the first year of college, your preceding class is Class 12, so your Class 12 marks are the ones that count.
Scholarship amount and benefits
The programme listing for 2026-27 states that selected students can receive up to ₹18,000. The exact amount depends on your class or course and your fees, and the sources I could read do not publish a full slab table.
Careers360 reports that Class 11 and 12 students can receive up to 100% of their tuition or course fee, or ₹15,000, whichever is lower. Some sites quote much larger amounts, up to ₹1 lakh, but those figures come from other tracks or earlier editions. They could not be confirmed for the two tracks open in 2026-27, so do not count on them.
Documents required for Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship
Keep clear scans ready before you open the form. The programme notification lists these:
- Government-issued identity proof
- Passport-size photograph
- Income proof, such as an income certificate from a government authority, Form 16A or salary slips
- Proof of admission, such as a college ID card or bonafide certificate
- Fee receipt for the current academic year
- Marksheet or grade card of the preceding class or semester
- Bank account details, such as a cancelled cheque or a passbook copy
- Disability certificate and caste certificate, if they apply to you
An income certificate issued by a government authority is the safest choice, because it is the easiest for a reviewer to accept. Make sure the name on every document matches your application.
How to apply for Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship 2026-27
To apply, start from Tata Capital's official page, open the programme's online application, choose the form for your course level, fill in your details and upload your documents.
- Decide which form you need. There are two: one for Class 11 and 12, and one for undergraduate, diploma and ITI students.
- Start from the official page. Read the programme details on Tata Capital's education page, which says students can apply on the company's online portal.
- Reach the application portal. The programme's applications are handled on Buddy4Study, the platform that runs the programme. Search for "Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship Programme 2026-27" there and register with a Google account, or with your name, email and mobile number.
- Choose your form and fill in the details. Enter your marks, course, institute and family income exactly as they appear on your documents.
- Upload your photograph, signature and documents.
- Check whether a fee is shown. The notification lists an online payment step, but other sites say the application is free. The form will show you whether anything is payable. Do not pay anyone outside the official form.
- Submit and download the confirmation page. Keep it until the results are out.
- Track your status. Log in to the same portal and open the Pankh programme page to check for updates.
Only use the portal reached from Tata Capital's official page. Several look-alike sites use the Tata Capital name, and Tata Capital's own website advises students to trust only links that begin with tatacapital.com.
Selection process
The notification does not publish a scoring formula, so no one outside the programme can tell you exactly how applicants are ranked. What is clear is that your marks and your family income are the two main checks, which is why both are listed as eligibility conditions.
The Pankh programme is a large one, so a clean, complete application matters. Applications with missing documents or mismatched details are the easiest ones to lose.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Applying in the wrong track. A Class 12 student should not fill the undergraduate form, and the other way round.
- Using the wrong marks. The 60% rule applies to your preceding class, semester or year, not to your best result.
- Ruling yourself out with an old income limit. The 2026-27 limit is ₹4 lakh, not ₹2.5 lakh.
- Weak income proof. An unsigned or unclear income document can hold up your application.
- Wrong bank details. Check the account number and name before you upload the passbook copy.
- Waiting for the last day. Portals slow down close to a deadline, so apply a few days early.
