About the Program

The Delhi Ladli Scheme was introduced in 2008 by the Department of Women & Children Development, Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The scheme is designed to empower female children in Delhi by encouraging education and financial security. Under this initiative, eligible beneficiaries receive a long-term fixed deposit of up to ₹11,000, helping them secure a brighter future.

Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria

The scheme applies to female children born on or after January 1, 2008 who meet the following requirements:

For Newborn Girls:

  • The applicant must be a bonafide resident of Delhi for at least three years before the application date.
  • The child must have been born in Delhi, as recorded in the birth certificate issued by the Registrar of Births & Deaths.
  • The annual family income should not exceed ₹1,00,000.

For Girls Studying in Schools:

  • The applicant must be currently enrolled in a government school, MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) school, NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council) school, or a government-recognised school in Delhi.
  • The child must have been born in Delhi, with a birth certificate issued by the Registrar of Births & Deaths.
  • The applicant must have been admitted to Class 1, 5, 9, or 12, or must have passed Class 10 in the academic year 2008-09 or later.
  • The parent(s) must have lived in Delhi for at least three years before the application date.
  • The annual family income must be less than ₹1,00,000.

Benefits of the Scheme

The scheme provides financial assistance through a long-term fixed deposit, as outlined below:

  • ₹11,000 if the girl child is born in a hospital/nursing home in Delhi.
  • ₹10,000 if the girl child is born outside a hospital/nursing home.
  • ₹5,000 upon admission to Class 1, 5, 9, or 12, or after passing Class 10.

Important Notes:

The fixed deposit will be made in the name of the girl child and will only be accessible when she turns 18 and has completed at least Class 10. The parent(s)/guardian(s) must claim subsequent periodical deposits by submitting the child’s report card and attendance/admission certificate from a recognized school in Delhi

Required Documents

  1. A copy of a ration card, voter ID card, or any other proof of residence, showing at least three years of residence in Delhi.
  2. The birth certificate of the female child, issued by the Registrar of Births & Deaths, Delhi.
  3. A joint photograph of the parent(s) and the female child.
  4. A self-declaration of annual income from the parent(s).
  5. Admission certificate from a government, MCD, NDMC, or government-recognised school in Delhi.
